It’s definitely cold in Spokane, WA!!!

I know Coy is unable to make a post at the moment, so I figured I’d let you all know what I’ve been up to!!

I’m finally settled in at my parent’s house.  There’s nothing like… not moving away for college, getting married and moving out, and then moving back into your parents’ home!  Haha!  Sounds kind of funny, but I’m extremely thankful to have a place to stay when I come “home”.  It feels just like old times except Coy is not around.  My mom, dad, and friends have been keeping me busy, but I do feel like a part of me is missing at times.  It’s crazy…I want to go out with my friends and do fun things, but all my friends are married, work, are pregnant, or have kids, so it’s been difficult!  Hah!  Oh well, only one more day and I’ll be able to talk to Coy again…and then hopefully I’ll be able to see him in a few more weeks!!!  I’m definitely looking forward to that!

I do want to say to our family and friends that I’m sure most of you know its tough being a “military wife”.  I know all of you are curious as to what is going on, where Coy is, what’s next, when will he be coming to visit, etc….  Just know that I will try my best to give you all the information I know.  I also want you to know that I am emotional from time to time because the reality of all this is starting to set in.  This will be the first time I’m not will Coy during the holidays in 9-10 years!  So, if my answers to your questions and concerns seem short at certain times, it may be because I simply cannot talk about it at that moment.  I think some things are just difficult to say out loud…like, no he will not be here, he may not be able to come for Christmas, I’m not sure when I’ll see him again, etc.  Trust me, I’m a strong person and I know what we both signed up for, but it’s just the beginning of a long journey that I’m not used to just yet…I’ll come around, I just need a little bit of time!  What I can say is that all of your questions can probably be answered by reading our blog!  He’s very informative and usually he posts everything he tells me!

How about the weather in Spokane!  Poor Coy is freezing his butt off!!  I spoke to him on Friday night and he was telling me that he was writing down the weather so he knows the temperatures everyday!  I couldn’t help but laugh!  That’s Coy for ya!  Personally, I think I’d rather wake up and say, “man, if feels like 30° out here!”  But really it would be like –?°!  Coy would rather know the real temperature (so would most people!)…I think if I knew it was in the negatives I’d be colder than I would be if it were in the 30°’s!!  Just a thought!  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers…he’s definitely cold and by no means an outdoorsy kind of guy, so I know he’s not having too much fun.  But, it’s not for that long, and think of all the skills he’s learning!  I should be hearing from him late Thursday or Friday :)
As for answering questions about when he’ll be coming to town… I know he was hoping to come down for Christmas.  But, while in WA he was explaining to me that he might not be able to come to NOLA due to one of his report date (not sure where) changing.   Keep your fingers crossed!!  As it gets closer we’ll know more and can fill you in!

CONGRATS to MIA and MATT on their engagement!!!

On Friday night, Matt proposed to Mia!!  Her ring is BEAUTIFUL!!! So exciting!!!  I love weddings!!  Mia and Matt are two of my most favorite people and I can’t wait for him to be part of the family!!!...I mean he already is like family, but you know what I mean!

I feel like we’re getting so old!  I mean we’re married…only for 2 years, but together since high school (which has almost been 10 years)!, Coy’s younger sister is getting married, our 10-year reunion is coming up!, my parents all their friends are starting to whip out eyeglasses at restaurants!  Hahahaha…it’s so crazy how time flies!!

CONGRATS to my cousin Sabrina and Brittney for making the 2011 VooDoo Doll Dance Team!!!  Tryouts were this past Saturday at Mardi Gras World!!  It was so weird going to watch the tryouts…I’ve never done that before!!  Myself, along with a few other veterans were helping out with the auditions.  It was nice seeing everyone!  It was like a VooDoo Doll reunion…and a bunch of babies!  I’m so happy the team is back in NOLA and 2 very special people in my life will be dancing on the field like I did!!!  I will admit I’m a bit jealous!!  But I can’t wait to actually be a fan in the stands…a season ticket holder!  The games are going to be a blast!!!  If you’re in NOLA and haven’t purchased your season tickets yet…what are you waiting for?!!!  Just kidding, but really, get your tickets…they’re affordable and the games are so much fun, especially for kids!!  For a limited time you can get season tickets at the 2008 price!!  O.K...I’m done with the advertisement :)

On Sunday, I went to Houma at Aunt Stacey and Uncle Rusty’s house with Mrs. Dianne, Bill, Mia, Matt, Nanny, Paw, and Kailin…oh! and Oreo!  Stacey made some delicious gumbo and potato salad and Russ made pecan pies!!  Everything was delicious!  After we ate, Kailin made some exfoliating scrub with sea salt, honey, essential oils, and brown sugar!  I was impressed!  Then we played spa and she gave us all pedicures!!  It was nice!  I left with white polka dots on my toenails!!!  It was a really nice day!!

Tonight I’m going out with some friends to Superior Grill’s block party!!  I’ve never gone there the night before Thanksgiving, but apparently it’s the thing to do!!  I probably won’t stay out too late…I can’t hang anymore!  Haha…I don’t know if I’m getting older or I’m used to not doing much in Del Rio!!

Oh! And I’m not sure if Coy will have time or not, but check back during the week…he may make a post about his dreadful (without all the details) week camping!!!

I guess I’ll rap up this post!! I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!!!  Eat some white meat turkey and all the yummy fixings for Coy!!  Till next time, thanks for reading :)

13 November 2010

It's been a while

First off "HI"!

Second off..., I had no intention of taking this long to ever do a blog entry.

Well, since the last post we've moved away from Laughin half way across the country to Dover AFB (in Delaware). Haha.

I wish that I had more pictures for everyone but I'm operating off of my old laptop and not my normal computer, and I also need to purchase a USB cable to connect my camera and computer so for now all I have is my iPhone.

Packing our house into a U-Haul was quite a chore!  It took almost three days to pack everything well and bring it all outside to the U-Haul in the driveway. Not to mention I had to do all of the paperwork necessary to leave Laughlin.... which is A LOT (everyone on base wants a copy of your orders and a personal visit to their office to let them know you're leaving).
White trash across America
We finally got all packed up on 31 Oct (Halloween night).  We sat on a few chairs with some friends and handed out candy (no costumes for us this year).  Actually, we were all packed up by then but then we had to clean the house for our final out-processing inspection the next day.  It took till 5am the next morning to clan everything to their specifications (which was ridiculous, because Kristen keeps an impeccably clean house all the time, and we didn't receive the house as clean as we left it...., but oh well).  We spent our last night at the base hotel (1 Nov) because my orders said that I was leaving on the 2nd.
On the road
Del Rio is in my rear view mirror
We woke up bright and early on the 2nd and drove to New Orleans.  Maybe to early beacause Kristen wanted to pull over and take a nap for an hour somewhere between Del Rio and San Antonio.  It's not that bad of a drive once you've done it a few times...and we have, Kristen just wanted ready for it wish all of the stress and almost sleepless nights before the move.  Haha.  Once we made it in we unpacked a few things and went to eat at Copeland's.

The next day we unpacked all of Kristen's stuff at her parents house (where she and Dallas will be living for the next 9-12 months).  I also got to go to my old ROTC detachment and talk to a few of the cadets about what pilot training was like.  Later that night we went to Sicily's pizza (one of my favorite pizza  buffet, carry-out or dine-in Westbank establishments).
Bye Louisiana
Me and T-Bob
Somewhere in the USA... this place is good!
Tennessee
Tennessee
Kentucky (I think)
On Thursday our plan was to drive to Knoxville, TN but our U-Haul had different plans.  Haha.  It broke down about 2 1/2 hours into our journey that day.  In a bad spot too.  On the interstate with a small shoulder in the middle of nowhere Mississippi.  Now...., this is Kristen and my whole life pretty much in the back of this truck just stalled out on the side of the interstate....Geeeshh.  We called U-Haul of course.  They said that they were just 5 miles behind us and they'll be there ASAP.  Well, U-Hauls definition of ASAP is 2 1/2 hours of waiting on the side of a dangerous interstate.  Then once Billy Joe and T-Bob's Wrecker and Repair Service got there it took them just a short 2 hours and 50 minutes to find the problem, get the part and fix it.  There was still a check engine light for the duration of our ride but Billy Joe informed us that it was OK.  Haha.  What a day!

Somewhere in VA
Somewhere in DE
DE again..., the leaves were changing colors.
Anyway, the rest of our trip went well, just a lot of driving.  It was nice scenery that we've never seen before so that was cool.

We got here and checked into a TLF (temporary lodging facility) on base.  It was really nice.  In fact, the whole base is really nice!  The next day we drove the U-Haul to a storage facility and unloaded all of our belongings into it (tear, tear).

Om Monday (8 Nov) I checked in to my new squadron.  They didn't even know that I was coming.  It was awesome.  I took them by surprise. See, what usually happens is that pilots get their wings.  Go to a few other classes, then go learn how to fly the plane that they were assigned (C-5), then finally go their base to fly it with their squadron.  Well, I'm a little unique since I got two aircraft's.  They sent me to my base first.  It was just a huge confusion for everyone over here for the first few days.

On my first day they gave me a in-processing checklist.  People in my squadron told me it usually takes up to 3 months to complete everything on it.  I really tried to do it all this week....., but I didn't even come close! Haha.  I have a lot left once I get back from this training.  BTW, I'll be off to some special training (which I can't really talk about) for the next few weeks.  I'll be done and back in Dover on the 11th of Dec.  I'll be able to update the blog, I think, during my "off" time over there. At least on 4-8 Dec I know I'll have some time and I'll do it then if I haven't yet.
We drove to "the beach" over here... these ducks were guarding it
Atlantic Ocean
Kristen flew back home on Wednesday (tear, tear).  Thursday I had off for Veterans Day (I slept most of it).  Friday I tied up all the loose ends over here getting ready for my training.
It's really blurry but I was able to fly the C-5 simulator!

C-5 compared to a football field
Today I went and saw the AMC (Air Materials Command) museum over here on base.  It was nice.  There's a bunch of restored airplanes there.
C-5 taking off... this picture does no justice for size and noise!!!
Well folks...., again, sorry for the long delay, sorry for not that many pictures (trust me there are a lot more), but I'll try harder next time I promise.

If you are wondering....this is where I'll be and kind of what I'll be doing for the next month (just click on this sentence).

To our followers...

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have no intentions on canceling our blog.  We know it's been a while, but both of us have been extremely busy with packing & relocating.  Please keep checking the site on a weekly basis....another post will be coming as soon as time permits.  I'm sure by this weekend Coy will have another post up!!

Thanks!!
