Del Rio baby!!!

Well.... a lot has happened over the past week or so.

On Friday (26 Jun) I graduated ASBC at Maxwell AFB!!! Yaaayyy!!! <---Its really not an accomplishment. Every 2lt has to complete it...... but yaay anyways. From there Kristen and I drove back to New Orleans (Kristen slept). I spent the night on the westbank on Friday.
On Saturday morning I woke up and drove to my dads house in Houston. It was nice to see him and Yasmin. We went to church and then went to a Mexican restaurant called Chuy's..... it was awesome!
I left there on Sunday morning and stopped off at my friend Oliver's in San Antonio (It is beautiful over there!!!). He is my buddy from back in the N.O. and is stationed in San Antonio with the Air Force. He explained my orders to me and told me that I did not have to be in Del Rio till midnight on Monday (iI thought that I had to be there for midnight on Sunday)!!! Sweet, so me and him hung out in San Antonio for the night. where did we go? To Chuy's Mexican restaurant again (this time in San Antonio).
On Monday around 9am I left his house and reported to my base/squadron at 1230pm dressed in my blues. It was very anti-climatic.... I checked in with my "boss" and they told me to go home and come back at 0830 in the morning.
That was perfect because I went to straight to housing to sign my lease and get my keys.

Our house is awesome!!!!.....well, sort of. It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath. I'm not sure of the square footage, but it's big enough. We have a shed, a carport, a BIG dining/living room, a BIG master bedroom, and NO grass just dirt...it's sweet! The house is very empty right now...., I want to get here on Sunday sometime with the furniture. Right now there is just mu uniforms and an air mattress.
I received further orders today.... I will be starting my IFS (Introductory Flight Screening) on 21 Jul in Pueblo, CO (3 1/2 week course). And my UPT (Undergraduate Pilot Training) class has been moved up three months to 8 Sep!!!! Wow! That's a shocker! That's coming up A LOT sooner than I anticipated. Oh well, the key to airpower they tell me is "flexibility".
I'll be driving to San Antonio tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 2 Jul) to sleep at Oliver's house. On Friday I am flying back to New Orleans and picking up a U-Haul, and packing the house.... I'll try and make it back to Del Rio ASAP to give us more time to get settled before the next week starts...... So, until next time.......
I took this picture at 2017 (8:17pm) in Rel Rio, TX. The sun was still out and the temp was 100!! It's HOT.....!

2nd to last day!

Kristen got here last night! We went straight to the Montgomery Biscuits baseball game (it was military night).

She came in to watch our Icarus tournament today, we were ranked number 1. But, we only made it to the quarter finals, then lost. Oh well, it sucked because our team was way better than that... After the tournament today we had a burger burn. It was fun too. I was able to introduce Kristen to my flight. I showed Kristen around the base after that. Tonight we went to a local brew pub for burgers and beer in "downtown" Montgomery. Then tonight we finished at the O-club on base.

Tomorrow I "graduate" from ASBC (yaaay). Really, they have a graduation ceremony for us... (haha). Then I'll pack what I got here and drive to New Orleans. From there (Saturday), I'll be heading to Houston, and Sunday, I'll be driving to Del Rio. So here we go.... off into the wild blue yonder.!

One week left!

. Sweet!

One week left....ahhh... then... "Off into the wild blue yonder" for real.

Ok.., good news or bad news first..?

Bad news you say? That's the same order I like it in also.

So, last Wednesday I was doing an obstacle course and I had to clamp my legs together on this pole for about 10 minutes to keep my balance. I did it and our team passed the challenge, but afterwards I was feeling like I was going to be sore the next day.....

On Thursday we had a couple of games of Icarus (a made up AF game). During the game I was running and came to a sudden stop. Well, my muscle pulled in my leg. I have pulled muscles before and I just play through them... no problem. But Thursday night my leg was more and more immobile.... it sucks. I never had that happen. When I woke up on Friday it was hard to get out of bed. I went to the doctor and he told me that I pulled my groin. It sucks. He put me on profile, which means no PT. He put me on it for 14 days.

You would think that I would be happy because I don't have to do the warrior run (3 mile trail run) on Wednesday. But no.... this sucks. I cant participate in the obstacle course tomorrow (Monday), most of the paintball game on Tuesday, Warrior run on Wednesday, and the Icarus tournament on Thursday!!! What a croc! OK, to be fair, there is no way that I can run tomorrow yet, my leg still hurts. It hurts just after a couple of running size steps. Oh well....

Now for the good news....... I got a call from Laughlin AFB on Friday letting me know that our house is ready for us to move in! Sweet! It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath. It has just been handed back to Laughlin AFB from contractors being updated. It now has a larger master bedroom and larger dining room (what a hurricane evacuation pad...)! It also has a fenced in yard and a large tree in the front yard. Sounds good. Maybe too good. We'll see...

This is my last week here at ASBC... This week is just fun.... no more tests.

Kristen is flying up here on Wednesday night to hang out for the last few days with me and see me "graduate" the grogram (they really give me a certificate). She'll get her military ID and enrolled in TRIcare (medical insurance).... yaaaayyyy!!

PS. Today as I was walking into church the CYO was posted at the door..... They pinned a coronation on my lapel and told me happy fathers day ( I didn't stop them... I didnt feel like killing the mood). But next they gave me a box with a gift in it. I had to speak up now.... I didn't want to take a gift if I didn't deserve it.... So I spoke up. But I was told that I would be a daddy soon....? What? Did this CYO kid know something that I didn't know...? It was funny
BTW...( The gift in the box was a pen).

So. It's been a while.

Hey!!!!!!

I'm still alive. I wanted to make an update at least every week. I apologize for taking longer and I'll try better from now on.

The past couple of weeks have been fun/challenging. Lets see, for starters, the biggest thing that happened to me was the one ASBC test that I have to take I failed. That was really bad. I was so upset with myself. I locked myself in my room over the weekend and re-took the test tis morning. And this time I passed with flying colors! Still, it was embarrassing.

This is a picture of what I saw on Monday morning under my door. It was a not shoved under my door from Justin "Whit" Whitford. He's my buddy over here. I've met a lot of good people over here.

I don't like to make excuses but this is the first time that ASBC has done their testing this way. They used to have two tests, one after 3 weeks, and one after 6 weeks. Now, they have just one test, and you learn the material from weeks 2-4. So just 3 weeks of learning for twice the info! Oh well, they told us that all of the tests from this class were lower than any other. I guess this is how the Air Force learns.

Oh well, all of the "hard" stuff is over... for now. This week we have 'Combined Ops'. Which means that we'll be paired up with a senior enlisted airman for a couple of days and they'll share with us some of their experiences and stuff like that.

I am coming back into New Orleans this weekend! I am so excited for that. This will be the last time before the move. I guess I'll be super busy trying to tie up loose ends over there.

Please say a prayer for my grandmother who needs them. She is having a rough time and is in and out of the hospital right now.

1/3 done with ASBC!!!

OK, so I am done with week 2 of 6 (1/3 done!!!). There is only one test while I am here and it is at the end of week four. The week days are sometimes boring, and sometimes interesting. Sometimes the lessons are boring or hard to understand, and sometimes we get guest speakers that talk about cool stuff!

My squadron is called the Gryphons. A gryphon is a mythological creature that is top half eagle and bottom half lion. My flight's name within the Gryphon's is the Gamblers. So, we needed to make a t-shirt with a picture on it. At first a clip art picture of some cards was chosen for our picture, but I couldn't let that happen. I told them I would draw a picture...and here is the final product! I dew a gryphon with a royal flush.
Saturday, my next door neighbor over here got promoted to a 1st Lt. so its traditional when you get promoted to a higher rank you buy liquor for everyone or throw a party. So.., he did. I BBQ'd (sshhhhh... don't tell anyone, but that was just my 2nd time BBQing, and my 1st time on charcoal..... But I did good and everyone liked them). We had a keg and BBQ burgers, and alot of 2d Lt's! Someone even broke out a slip n' slide! I'm meeting alot of fun, nice, and professional people here.
Also, since my flight did so good this week (top flight), we received an award to carry around for this week. His name (the award) is "Nutter". He is a stuffed squirrel. We heard that if he could talk that he would have some good stories to tell. So we wanted to add some stories to his library (keg stands, M-4 pointed at his head just to name

We wear these shirts a couple of times a week... usually when we have a flight challenge (game). Oh, by the way, we play this game called Icarus. It is an Air Force game that has a LOT of rules. Its one of these nerdy games that combines mind skills, with physical ability. We played our first game this week and beat the other team 34-3. We were awesome. That win also gave our flight the top flight honors for the week!

This week coming up will be alot of fun. We have a fun "out" day on Monday. Another "out" day on Tuesday. Special Operations brief on Wednesday. Icarus on Thursday. Friday is not that great, but I am coming home that day. I think this will be my last weekend in town before the move.

OOhhh... I also got my real ID this week! I'm official. Also, my orders finally came through on Friday (I needed those to start getting paid). All I have left to do for in-processing is give blood and get shots.

My room @ ASBC

Here is my room. It is small but full of dressers, drawers, and spaces. I have ALOT of stuff tucked away in here! I have a fridge/freezer (full of Abita), microwave, internet connection, and a flat LCD TV mounted on the wall, what else could I ask for?

I have two briefings already this week (Wednesday and Thursday)! Aaauugghh!!!
This is a picture from my webcam.....I was just trying it out...
