Colorado!!!

I know, I know. You were expecting pictures. I'm in a beautiful state, and I dont have any pictures! This is rediculous!

The honest truth is that since I got here last Monday I have been inside the whole time. I eat, sleep, work-out, study, and most importantly learn ALL in the same building. And furthermore..., there are limited windows in here (I've just been outside once). My room has no windows, and my classroom has no windows. I will get out and see some sights before I leave, but just not yet. I have a big test on Monday, and I have to study through the weekend.

I have my first flight on Monday as well, so..., wish me luck/ say a prayer.

I'll be back next week with a better update on me. Kristen on the other hand got bored in Del Rio, TX and she drove back to New Orleans for a week or so.

Our Casa

Here are some pictures of our house.
Grass is coming soon...fingers crossed. Check out our garden!
It still doesn't feel at home because we still need curtains, rugs, decorations, etc.
But, we've come a LONG way. We should have taken before and after pics!
Our house is ready for visitors, but weekends are limited because I'll soon be starting UPT. 8 Sep....., tentative.

I'll be in Colorado from 18 Jul - 14 Aug partaking in pre-pilot training stuff.
Checkout the picture of my little bug smasher I'll be flying. It's a Diamond DA-20.

MOVING DAY....for real this time...!

What a LOOOooooooonnnnngggggggg day! We left the Westbank at 7:30 in the morning on July 4th (how un-American....who scheduled our move...? Al-Queida?). Anyway, we rolled out from the Westbank (the bestbank) and we were on our way..... (975 miles to go).
It was hard saying goodbye to New Orleans. It was especially hard to drive into the unknown. It was scary, but at the same time it was exciting!
Well, Kristen and I were off on our own now...... just us two, Dallas (our dog), and a 27' U-Haul and trailer. <----- That thing was like 50' long in total! I have a new appreciation for 18 wheelers. I couldn't turn just anywhere..., I had to plan every maneuver.! Our first stop was for gas. That truck could DRINK unleaded fuel! We filled up a total of 3 times on the way to Del Rio ($115.00 per)!
Dallas was very well behaved on the truck, and for that matter, so was Kristen. Both of them slept for large portions of the trip. Which was OK with me because I got complete control of the radio for said hours.
We stopped in Houston at IKEA furniture around 2 in the afternoon. We needed to buy/pick up a bedroom set. That sucked, because one of us had to stay with Dallas, and the other had to shop. IKEA took us nearly 2 1/2 hours! My dad offered to help, and I really wanted to take him up on his request...., but I wanted to do it myself..... you know...? I just wanted to say that Kristen and I could make it on our own.
From there our next stop was at our friend Oliver's house in San Antonio. My truck was there and Kristen was going to follow me in it for the last 2 1/2 hour drive to Del Rio. We got to go out to eat with Oliver and his two kids at Chuy's Mexican restaurant. My dad and Yaz just introduced me to that place and I love it!
From there was the final 2 1/2 hour drive....... boy did that suck! We didn't get in till 2:30 in the morning..... to an empty house. We blew up the air mattress and went to sleep. It was a LLLoooonnnnggggg day.
This is me staring in amazement at our glass top washing machine..... It's freakin' cool!

Next update I'll show pictures of the house....!

Del Rio baby!!!

Well.... a lot has happened over the past week or so.

On Friday (26 Jun) I graduated ASBC at Maxwell AFB!!! Yaaayyy!!! <---Its really not an accomplishment. Every 2lt has to complete it...... but yaay anyways. From there Kristen and I drove back to New Orleans (Kristen slept). I spent the night on the westbank on Friday.
On Saturday morning I woke up and drove to my dads house in Houston. It was nice to see him and Yasmin. We went to church and then went to a Mexican restaurant called Chuy's..... it was awesome!
I left there on Sunday morning and stopped off at my friend Oliver's in San Antonio (It is beautiful over there!!!). He is my buddy from back in the N.O. and is stationed in San Antonio with the Air Force. He explained my orders to me and told me that I did not have to be in Del Rio till midnight on Monday (iI thought that I had to be there for midnight on Sunday)!!! Sweet, so me and him hung out in San Antonio for the night. where did we go? To Chuy's Mexican restaurant again (this time in San Antonio).
On Monday around 9am I left his house and reported to my base/squadron at 1230pm dressed in my blues. It was very anti-climatic.... I checked in with my "boss" and they told me to go home and come back at 0830 in the morning.
That was perfect because I went to straight to housing to sign my lease and get my keys.

Our house is awesome!!!!.....well, sort of. It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath. I'm not sure of the square footage, but it's big enough. We have a shed, a carport, a BIG dining/living room, a BIG master bedroom, and NO grass just dirt...it's sweet! The house is very empty right now...., I want to get here on Sunday sometime with the furniture. Right now there is just mu uniforms and an air mattress.
I received further orders today.... I will be starting my IFS (Introductory Flight Screening) on 21 Jul in Pueblo, CO (3 1/2 week course). And my UPT (Undergraduate Pilot Training) class has been moved up three months to 8 Sep!!!! Wow! That's a shocker! That's coming up A LOT sooner than I anticipated. Oh well, the key to airpower they tell me is "flexibility".
I'll be driving to San Antonio tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 2 Jul) to sleep at Oliver's house. On Friday I am flying back to New Orleans and picking up a U-Haul, and packing the house.... I'll try and make it back to Del Rio ASAP to give us more time to get settled before the next week starts...... So, until next time.......
I took this picture at 2017 (8:17pm) in Rel Rio, TX. The sun was still out and the temp was 100!! It's HOT.....!
