Mom came to visit!

My mom and Bill got to Del Rio midday Friday. I usually have NOTHING to do here. But as luck would have it..., that day I did. So we quickly went and ate lunch together at the restaurant under the control tower here (that place has great views of the planes). Then at 1pm I had to go to my meeting. It was my first meeting with my class! My flight class has 33 people in it right now. And.., there are a total of nine wives! So now Kristen has an opportunity to get to know some other wives. Yaaay!

On Friday night we went to a drop night here on base. I think that my mom found it amusing and enjoyed it. We left the O-Club and went eat dinner at a good BBQ place around here.

On Saturday we took my mom and Bill on the grand tour around Del Rio..... it took 20 minutes. We showed them the "town", and the lake. We came back to the house and decided to take Dallas for a walk. We ended up walking for about an hour and a half! Dallas was pooped! We went and ate lunch at our favorite local authentic Mexican restaurant, Ponchos. Then we BBQ'd that night for dinner.

It was a lot of fun hanging out with my mom. I missed her and I know she missed me.

It's nice to have visitors so anyone who wants to visit..., hit me up.

Not much going on here....

This past week there wasn't much going on over here. We had our first weekend with no visitors in the past few weeks. It was nice..., but boring. I think that we like when people are visiting. We are proud to show off Del Rio!

One of the pictures is of my Otterbox Defender for iPhone. It is awesome! It is water/ shock/drop resistant. It is $50. But I got it from eBay for $28. The other picture is of Dallas. We left her outside by herself for a few minuted and this is what her newly bathed body looked like... haha.

I've started studying my T-6 (plane) stuff. It sounds like it'll be fun!

Check out my videos that I post on youtube. You can get to them by simply clicking on one of them on the right side of this page. I have a good one from last night. It was a great storm!

We had my mom and husband come in this weekend. I'll post on that next time.

But that's about it.

The Guidry's visit

late 2 weeks in a row? Com' on!

Last weekend Kristen's parents came to visit (and the two dogs). It was a lot of fun. We like having visitors. They were our second visitors. I believe there is a lot to do, and to know when you have people over. Kristen and I are on a hard learning curve..., but I think we are getting better at having company over each time someone new comes over.

The Guidry's got here and I had BBQ waiting for them....That was pretty much it for the first night. The next day I had work and everyone else at the house likes to sleep in ...so it worked out well. We went to Lake Amistad on Friday afternoon.... nothing special, no boat rental, no fishing, just looking. We ate a lot of Julio's salsa while they were here.

Kristens iPhone crapped out on Friday and the closest apple store is in San Antonio. So we went there and then to The Riverwalk and Dick's to eat (it's a restaurant that basically makes fun of you and you pay for it), and then the Alamo. Weirdest thing.... The Air Force is small. At the Alamo, I ran into my good friend Oliver and his family, and we were all wearing our purple and gold for them Tigers! PS, I didn't know we were supposed to smile for that picture.

Dallas loved playing with the other dogs. I know she misses them (she lived with them for five months). Mr. Dennis took a lot of pictures. I took them on a quick tour of the base. I got stopped at the front gate and had to give a pee test...haha.... yeah, a pee test. It took an hour and a half! It was ridiculous! But, during that time Kristen and her mom spent some QT together shopping and Mr. Dennis was able to relax at the house.... so it all worked out for the best.

I thought that my mom and her husband were coming to visit this weekend... but I must have had my dates messed up. So Kristen and I had a nice weekend to ourselves. Mom is coming next weekend. There is a 'drop night' on Friday of this week that I'll take her to. A 'drop night' is two weeks before your class gets your wings here at pilot training. The nights intentions are to let you.., and everyone else there know what plane, and what base you'll be going to after graduation. But basically is a night of beer and making fun of pilots on stage at the O club. It's awesome! My mom will laugh at it I'm sure.

Three days late!

I know, I know.... Three days late. I won't let it happen again.

Last weekend my dad and his wife came to visit. Yay! Our first visitors!!! It was very nice. On Saturday I took them on a small tour of the base. There is not much to see here on a Saturday....but oh well. Then a tour of Del Rio. They were a bit surprised at the amount of stores and stuff that we have here. It's not that bad (we got a Wal-Mart). Then we took them to the lake, and then to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Ponchos.

On Sunday we went to church and then they drove back to Houston. It was real nice to see them and entertain.

At the beginning of this week I flew to N. Carolina for Col. Collins memorial service. I am so glad that I decided to do that. It helped me with my grieving. I really looked up to him and I am going to miss him.

The service was nice. It was at a Lutheran church (it was my first time in a Lutheran church..., nothing special, just like a Catholic church if you were ever wondering). There were sooooo many uniformed officers there. And to think..., I was proud to show off my measly five ribbons on my service dress... haha. The officers there had a whole racks FULL of combat and service ribbons. It just helps me keep my head from swelling I guess. I was the lowest ranking officer there so I was saluting a lot. It was all good though. To end the ceremony there was a Huey helicopter fly-over. On the first pass the flew slow and sideways with the side door open hanging an American flag out of the door. Then they faded into the distance.... only to come raging back for one final low high speed pass. IT....WAS.....AWESOME! That was the same helicopters that he taught in for years..., and the same helicopters that he got me a ride in while in Alabama. Col. Collins was an awesome man! -Cheers.

On Thursday night I had my league over for our draft (that's right , my league, I'm the organizer and commissioner of my very own fantasy football league). It was a lot of fun. I BBQ'd and Kristen made oriental coleslaw and desert. And there was some adult beverage involved. It was a lot of fun. My team is awesome!
