Well.... a lot has happened over the past week or so.
On Friday (26 Jun) I graduated ASBC at Maxwell AFB!!! Yaaayyy!!! <---Its really not an accomplishment. Every 2lt has to complete it...... but yaay anyways. From there Kristen and I drove back to New Orleans (Kristen slept). I spent the night on the westbank on Friday.
On Saturday morning I woke up and drove to my dads house in Houston. It was nice to see him and Yasmin. We went to church and then went to a Mexican restaurant called Chuy's..... it was awesome!
I left there on Sunday morning and stopped off at my friend Oliver's in San Antonio (It is beautiful over there!!!). He is my buddy from back in the N.O. and is stationed in San Antonio with the Air Force. He explained my orders to me and told me that I did not have to be in Del Rio till midnight on Monday (iI thought that I had to be there for midnight on Sunday)!!! Sweet, so me and him hung out in San Antonio for the night. where did we go? To Chuy's Mexican restaurant again (this time in San Antonio).
On Monday around 9am I left his house and reported to my base/squadron at 1230pm dressed in my blues. It was very anti-climatic.... I checked in with my "boss" and they told me to go home and come back at 0830 in the morning.
That was perfect because I went to straight to housing to sign my lease and get my keys.
Our house is awesome!!!!.....well, sort of. It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath. I'm not sure of the square footage, but it's big enough. We have a shed, a carport, a BIG dining/living room, a BIG master bedroom, and NO grass just dirt...it's sweet! The house is very empty right now...., I want to get here on Sunday sometime with the furniture. Right now there is just mu uniforms and an air mattress.
I received further orders today.... I will be starting my IFS (Introductory Flight Screening) on 21 Jul in Pueblo, CO (3 1/2 week course). And my UPT (Undergraduate Pilot Training) class has been moved up three months to 8 Sep!!!! Wow! That's a shocker! That's coming up A LOT sooner than I anticipated. Oh well, the key to airpower they tell me is "flexibility".
I'll be driving to San Antonio tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 2 Jul) to sleep at Oliver's house. On Friday I am flying back to New Orleans and picking up a U-Haul, and packing the house.... I'll try and make it back to Del Rio ASAP to give us more time to get settled before the next week starts...... So, until next time.......

That's the exact same house layout we had at Laughlin. 8121B Hall St. Those walls began closing in really fast. Hope you have a better time than we did.
ReplyDeleteIFS! Learn your ops limits! It's rough, but just enjoy zooming around in the bug smashers! You're going to wish you could take one home in your pocket.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, who am I? I'm in Navigator training at Randolph.
