What a LOOOooooooonnnnngggggggg day! We left the Westbank at 7:30 in the morning on July 4th (how un-American....who scheduled our move...? Al-Queida?). Anyway, we rolled out from the Westbank (the bestbank) and we were on our way..... (975 miles to go).
It was hard saying goodbye to New Orleans. It was especially hard to drive into the unknown. It was scary, but at the same time it was exciting!
Well, Kristen and I were off on our own now...... just us two, Dallas (our dog), and a 27' U-Haul and trailer. <----- That thing was like 50' long in total! I have a new appreciation for 18 wheelers. I couldn't turn just anywhere..., I had to plan every maneuver.! 
Our first stop was for gas. That truck could DRINK unleaded fuel! We filled up a total of 3 times on the way to Del Rio ($115.00 per)!
Dallas was very well behaved on the truck, and for that matter, so was Kristen. Both of them slept for large portions of the trip. Which was OK with me because I got complete control of the radio for said hours.
We stopped in Houston at IKEA furniture around 2 in the afternoon. We needed to buy/pick up a bedroom set. That sucked, because one of us had to stay with Dallas, and the other had to shop. IKEA took us nearly 2 1/2 hours! My dad offered to help, and I really wanted to take him up on his request...., but I wanted to do it myself..... you know...? I just wanted to say that Kristen and I could make it on our own.
From there our next stop was at our friend Oliver's house in San Antonio. My truck was there and Kristen was going to follow me in it for the last 2 1/2 hour drive to Del Rio. We got to go out to eat with Oliver and his two kids at Chuy's Mexican restaurant. My dad and Yaz just introduced me to that place and I love it!
From there was the final 2 1/2 hour drive....... boy did that suck! We didn't get in till 2:30 in the morning..... to an empty house. We blew up the air mattress and went to sleep. It was a LLLoooonnnnggggg day.

ReplyDeleteI had to take out a mean post.... That's why Farva's comment doesn't make sense. Farva is the creator/artist of afblues.com. That is the AF comic strip that I go to everyday. So, thanks Farva for getting by back on that one.
