WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!

How bout them SAINTS?

Who Dat Baby!

Well..., Kristen is in New Orleans this week.  Lucky dog.  She left on Monday to visit family and friends in New Orleans.  So that meant that she also got to go to the Saints Superbowl parade. And now she is going to all of the parades for Mardi-Gras..... I'm stuck here in Del Rio.  Agghhh......The things I do for my country.
My sister got to have lunch with drew Brees!

This week was nice.  Kristen took Dallas, our dog, and she cooked me a few meals.  So I was set!  I mean..., usually during the week we barely get to spend any time together anyway because of my hectic schedule.  So we usually just eat dinner together Sunday night through Friday afternoon anyway.  So it seemed almost normal during the week so far.  But now it's Saturday and I am starting to miss her.

This week I went solo to the area!  It was sweet!  The Air Force really trusts me to take a 6.2 million dollar aircraft all by myself for 1.2hrs..... and do whatever the heck I wanted to.  Sweet!

I started my instrument rides this week.  Which basically means that I have to fly with just the instruments and without looking outside.  It's actually the primary method of flying for most of the civil world.  It's the "normal" way that every commercial flight flies.  So...., its a good idea that I get good at this because I'll be using these methods for the rest of my flying career.

So...., to "aid us" (make sure that we don't cheet), the Air Force makes us wear a "hood" to block our view outside of the cockpit and just let's us look at our instruments.  Its not perfect.., but it does it's job.

Anyway..., we only had one hood left in our flight room so our flight commander went and got five more for us to use.  He wanted to make sure that we didn't lose these so he asked us to mark them up this weekend so that we know, and more importantly everyone else knows..., those hoods are ours.

Well..., another classmate had the idea instead of just writing "ACES" on them that we should have funny stuff on them.  Haha.  Great idea.  So here are the five hoods that me have to wear now.

1. LOST - Lost is backwards because for these rides we sit in the back seat and the IP sits in the front.  There are mirrior that they can use to check and see if we still have our hood on.
2.Aces Flag- We're the Aces.  We are also called America's flight.
3. Dinosaur- I don't know why.... but it's funny
4. I'm with stupid-  C'mon... that's just funny
5. Texas- It really is the greatest planet in the universe

The next 4 pictures are the back of the hood.  So this is what we'll be looking at while flying.
1. Don't suck- It's just a good rule of thumb
2. A reaper is a PGA (remotely piloted aircraft).  No one wants to fly this
3. This one is the best!  It's a map of our local flying area.....kinda cheating
4.  No peeking

BTW...... We love it when yall post a comment on here.  It lets me know that people come to this site and read it.  Otherwise  I sometimes feel like I'm just typing to myself.

  2. I have read your blog from the get go and check the site at least 3 times a week in case you put in an Easter Egg along with your regular posts.
I really enjoy experiencing your transition from training into the "real" AF. This coming from a guy that was in the AF when we still wore the ole green fatigues.

  5. Sheppard AFB, ENJJPT Class 83-06. Brings back some memories, my wife and I were the only married couple in the class and our daughter was born during the break between T-37s and T-38s.
